US palaeontologists Mark Goodwin and Jack Horner bad name choice have proposed a dastardly good new theory, claiming that two thirds of dinosaurs hve been misidentified and are actually juvenile phases of a much smaller group of species.
Goodwin and Horner contend that like birds and other animals (rather broad brushed don't you think), the juvenile dinosaurs went through dramatic physical changes during adolescence.
To me this is bunk. It should be quite easy for this claim to be disproved by showing anatomically that the bones can not be from the same species and I am not sure how advanced genotyping is at the moment but eventually I hope they will be able to show that the genes are different in the different specimens. In the meantime ludicrous suggestions/theories with no purported evidence should be dismissed. Horner and Goodwin have got the null hypothesis around the wrong way [advance a hypothesis and attempt to disprove it].
I don't know if this is the paleontologists pandering to creationism or whether they sincerely think they may be onto something here, if they are I'd say it's a huge overestimation, but something smells fishy.
To me this appears to be another attempt by creationists at dismantling the achievements of science...which mind you we all enjoy the benefits of today.
